Saline County Commission Holds Brief Meeting with Limited Agenda Items

The Saline County Board of Commissioners convened for a short meeting on September 10, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. The session, which lasted less than 20 minutes before entering an executive session, covered a few routine items and one proclamation.

After the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call, the commission opened the floor for public comments. One citizen, invited commissioners and the public to a Candidate Forum Hosted by the Granny Brigade on September 17.

The consent agenda, which included approval of tax roll adjustments, accounts payable, and minutes from the previous meeting, was approved unanimously without discussion.

The main action item of the meeting was the approval of a proclamation declaring September 15-21, 2024, as National Co-Responder and Crisis Responder Week. Shianne Davis from Central Kansas Mental Health Center CIT Co-responder presented the proclamation, which highlighted the importance of mental health and substance use services in the community.

Following the proclamation, commissioners moved into an executive session to discuss the county administrator's performance evaluation. The session was scheduled for 10 minutes under the non-elected personnel exception to the Kansas Open Meetings Act.

Upon returning from the executive session, the commission reported that no action was taken and promptly adjourned the meeting.
