Saline County Clerk Jamie Doss Notes Increase in Early Voting Participation

Salina, KS — With more early votes cast than in 2016, Saline County is experiencing a significant increase in early voter turnout this election season. Early voting in 2016 saw around 6,000 participants, but this year, nearly 8,400 early voters have already cast their ballots, with an additional 1,700 mail-in ballots submitted making the total just over 10,000.

“We’re seeing quite a few first-time voters,” Jamie Doss, Saline County Clerk and Election Officer, told Salina311. Doss highlighted the county's history of strong voter engagement. “Traditionally, turnout is around 62% to 65%,” she said, reflecting the community’s consistent election participation.

Doss also emphasized that this election's data is not being compared to the 2020 turnout, as that year was an anomaly due to the impact of COVID-19 on voting behavior.

For those voting in person, polls will be open tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters can visit voters.gov to find their voting location. Campaign slogans on shirts, hats, signs, and other paraphernalia are prohibited within 250 feet of the polls.

Salina311 will have live election coverage on Tuesday Night with updates as they become available.
