Infant Death Case Now an Active Investigation With KBI

The Salina Police Department (SPD) has moved the case involving the death of a 7-week-old infant in late July into an active investigation.

SPD confirmed to Salina311 that the status change followed receipt of the final autopsy report from Kansas City.

As part of the ongoing work, SPD has brought in a medical expert from Wichita who will consult with investigators. The department also confirmed it is partnering with additional law-enforcement agencies as the case progresses.

According to Lt. Andrew Zeigler, there are possible suspects, though no arrests have been made at this time.

โ€œWe are working with the KBI; the AGโ€™s office is going to be the court with jurisdiction if charges are found, yes,โ€ Zeigler said.
