On July 8, police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of Baker Street. A 34-year-old female reported that a known associate, Joseph Daulton, was at her residence when she heard glass breaking in another room. Upon investigating, Daulton grabbed her phone from her hand. Fearing for her safety, she struck him in the face in an attempt to stop him from breaking her belongings and to get away from him.
When she went into another room, Daulton slammed the door shut, preventing her from escaping. He put his arm around her neck, choking her and causing difficulty breathing. During the altercation, he bit her ear and the left side of her back. After a brief moment of calm, Daulton offered to return her phone on the condition that she didn't call the police. Still held captive, she requested a drink and attempted to escape through a bathroom window, but Daulton pulled her back inside.
He eventually allowed her to move to another room to talk, but when she tried to leave again, he bit her on the cheek. In her struggle to get away, she grabbed a rod and fought him off, eventually managing to escape through the front door and call the police. Daulton fled the scene before police arrived.
On July 9, police received a tip that Daulton was in the 200 block of North Phillips Avenue. Officers spoke with the homeowner, who permitted them to enter the residence. Daulton was found and arrested. He faces charges of aggravated domestic battery, robbery, kidnapping, criminal restraint, domestic battery, and criminal damage to property.
