On May 14th at approximately 11:00 pm, police responded to a disturbance at Marifah Inn at 1846 North Ninth Street involving two residents. There was an altercation stemming from a dispute.
A 37-year-old female, identified as Amanda Myers, was yelling at the victim, a 33-year-old female. The victim sought refuge in the lobby to report the harassment, but Myers followed wielding a bat. Myers allegedly swung the bat at the victim, causing the victim to fear for her safety. Staff intervened, keeping Myers at bay until police arrived.
Myers attempted to evade officers by fleeing further into her room but was apprehended. Charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and interference with law enforcement were requested against Myers.
