Salina Tennis Alliance (STA) Names New Director of Tennis
Salina Tennis Alliance has named Brian Vancuren as their new Director of Tennis. In his role Vancuren will manage the daily operations and programming of the recently completed $2.5 million state-of-the-art public tennis facility in the heart of Salina.
This past year the City of Salina awarded the contract to the Salina Tennis Alliance to manage and operate the new community tennis facility.
In addition to Vancuren’s duties with STA, he also serves as the Kansas Wesleyan University’s women’s tennis coach. Prior to joining the staff at KWU, he served 3 seasons as the Maize South High School tennis coach. Vancuren is a Kansas native, originally from Conway Springs. He played tennis collegiately at Southwestern College in Winfield, KS, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in accounting. He also holds a Bachelor of Education degree from Fort Hays State University.
STA board member Jason Ingermanson said “our board is thrilled to have someone like Brian oversee the new tennis center, as his experience and knowledge of the game will further enhance what can be provided to the community.”
Since opening in February of this year, tennis activity has been booming at the new tennis center, with numerous middle schools, high school and college tournaments taking place on the courts, and with many more events already scheduled on the calendar. “We have a lot planned this summer for juniors and adults to take part in lessons, clinics, leagues, tournaments and a whole lot more, I’m excited to get started.” said Vancuren. “The future is bright for Salina tennis and the opportunities to grow the game.”
