After last week's unfortunate washout, the Salina Speedway is gearing up for an adrenaline-fueled comeback this Friday night. Get ready to experience the thrill of racing once again at America's Fast Track to Fun. And that's not all - the highly anticipated Mike Wiegert Memorial Power Wheels Race for Kids is making a triumphant return.
This year's Power Wheels race holds special significance as it pays tribute to the late Mike Wiegert, a beloved supporter and organizer of the event who sadly passed away in March. Join Salina Speedway on Friday, June 9, during intermission on the front-stretch of the Salina Speedway, as they celebrate his memory.
The Power Wheels race offers two age categories: 6 & Under and 7-10. Participants are required to use a securely attached battery of 12V or less (such as 9V or 6V) in their Power Wheel. Safety is a top priority, and all drivers must wear at least a bicycle helmet. Additionally, participants have the option to add bands to the front tires. The event is absolutely free, allowing kids to experience the thrill of racing on the big track.
But that's not all the excitement in store for race night. The Salina Speedway is proud to present the following divisions competing in intense battles:
- Mel Hambelton Ford IMCA Modifieds
- Coors Light IMCA Stock Cars
- Big Corner Creative IMCA SportMods
- Buschhhhhhh Light IMCA Hobby Stocks
- Bird Contracting IMCA Sport Compacts
As an additional incentive, any division with a minimum of 20 cars checking in will receive a thrilling $500 bonus, which will be spread out through the total purse. And if that number reaches 30 cars, the bonus skyrockets to an incredible $1,000. Plus, any division that manages to go from green to checkered without a single yellow flag will earn the drivers a free pit pass for next week's racing event.

- Hot Laps: 7:15 pm
- Racing Starts: 8 pm
For those wanting to experience the heart-pounding action from the pit area, pit passes are available at $30 for ages 13 and over, $15 for ages 6-12, and free for children aged 5 and under. If you prefer the grandstands, admission is $10 for ages 16 and over, while children aged 15 and under can enter for free when accompanied by a paying adult. Seniors can enjoy the races at half price, and military personnel can gain free entry with a valid ID.
Attention drivers: Please remember to bring your 2023 IMCA card when checking in. If you don't have one yet, you can apply for it during check-in. Additionally, raceceiver radios and Westhold transponders are mandatory for all drivers. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in disqualification.
