Five individuals in Salina became victims of a scam. A scammer orchestrated the plot by using Advance America at 1103 West Crawford Street. All of the victims were contacted by Advance America and instructed to complete their loan applications. It is suspected that the scam may have originated from an unknown data breach, as the perpetrators obtained personal information to apply for $1,000 loans online. While some of the loans were successful, others were intercepted. None of the victims completed their applications as requested, and they promptly filed police reports. All fraudulent loan applications were submitted on March 8th, prompting ongoing investigations by the Salina Police Department.
