Salina Police Department Responds to Incident Report in Downtown Salina
The Salina Police Department took to their official Facebook page to address concerns regarding an incident in Downtown Salina. The department was made aware of the incident through a third party. Although the incident occurred on Tuesday, June 20, it was not reported to the SPD until Thursday, June 22.
According to the victim, a 34-year-old male resident of Salina, the incident took place at approximately 8:30 pm on Tuesday, June 20. The victim was walking through Campbell Plaza, located on the south side of The Prickly Pear, 123 S Santa Fe, when he crossed Santa Fe Street to reach his vehicle parked on the west side of Santa Fe. It was during this moment that the victim became unsettled as he noticed an individual allegedly approaching him from the east.
The suspect allegedly proceeded to approach the driver's door of the victim's vehicle, expressing offensive gestures and explicit language. The suspect allegedly went to the front of the victim's vehicle and retrieved what the victim described as a combat knife from his waistband while pointing it directly at him. Allegedly uttering threatening words, the suspect repeatedly stated, "I'll stab you, I'll stab you." Fearing for his safety, the victim managed to break free from the scene and drive off.
The possible suspect is described as a clean-shaven white male wearing black baggy pants, a black and red t-shirt, and a hat. The subject is not believed to be homeless.
