The Salina Police Department has enacted its Emergency Accident Reporting Plan due to severe weather and hazardous driving conditions.
Police say the plan is implemented when the volume of motor vehicle accidents exceeds the department’s ability to respond to all crashes in a timely manner.
Eligible Accidents
The Emergency Accident Reporting Plan applies to motor vehicle accidents that:
- Are not hit-and-run incidents
- Do not involve personal injury
- Do not require towing
- Do not involve alcohol or drugs
Driver Requirements
Drivers involved in eligible accidents are required to:
- Exchange personal information with the other driver(s) or property owner
- Complete an Emergency Accident Reporting Plan accident report form as thoroughly as possible
- Mail or deliver the completed report to the Salina Police Department within 48 hours
Reporting Forms
Emergency Accident Reporting Plan forms are available:
- In person at the Salina Police Department
- Online at salina-ks.gov/police by selecting the Emergency Accident Report Form
Police say local media will be notified when the Emergency Accident Reporting Plan has been lifted.
Travel Advisory
In addition to city conditions, reports indicate slippery roadways on Interstate 70, along with patches of low visibility. Drivers are urged to take extra precautions if travel is necessary and to delay travel when possible.
