Salina Ordinance to Tow Vehicles Violating Temporary No Parking Signs

Salina Ordinance to Tow Vehicles Violating Temporary No Parking Signs

The Salina City Commission has proposed Ordinance No. 24-11205, aiming to amend Chapter 38 of the Salina Code regarding vehicle towing in response to increased events in the City parking lot at Ash and Santa Fe. The ordinance seeks to grant authority to remove vehicles, without prior notice to the owner, from City parking lots marked with temporary no parking signs.

Currently, the Salina code allows vehicle removal only in specific circumstances but lacks provisions for towing vehicles violating temporary parking restrictions without notice.

The amendment allows authorities to tow vehicles found in violation of temporary no parking signs to an impound lot without notifying the owner. The temporary no parking signs, intended to accommodate events like the Farm and Art Market, prohibit parking from 6:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturdays from May through October.
