Salina Man Loses Over $500 in Package Delivery Text Scam

A 46-year-old Salina resident fell victim to a text message scam on November 7th after receiving a fraudulent delivery notification requesting a 30-cent payment. The message, which originated from a New York state area code, claimed a package could not be delivered without the payment.

After clicking the provided link and entering his credit card information, the victim discovered unauthorized charges totaling $525.82 made to an AliExpress account on November 7th and 8th. Despite working with his bank, the victim has been unable to resolve the fraudulent charges.

Local authorities warn residents to exercise caution when receiving unsolicited text messages requesting payment information for package deliveries.
