Salina Man Arrested After Allegedly Headbutting Officer

An alleged aggravated burglary leads to the arrest of a Salina man on requested charges.

Captain Hanus says that on March 29 at 10:40 pm, officers were sent to the 800 block of Plaza Dr for an aggravated burglary. The victims were a 42-year-old female and a 44-year-old male.

A subject had allegedly entered a vehicle and then shortly later, the victim's house. When the victim's saw the subject in the house, the subject left. It was then that the victims noticed items missing from their home. Missing were the following:

  • black duffel bag with miscellaneous welding equipment
  • 2 sets of vehicle keys
  • mailbox key

By this time, the victims' son was home and reported that he saw the same alleged person in his vehicle earlier in the day. However, the son did not tell his parents but instead, locked the door and left.

Later, at 12:40 am on March 30, there was a report of a suspicious person in the 900 block of Vassar. Officers made contact with a subject who allegedly had a black bag with miscellaneous welding equipment. While detaining this person, he allegedly headbutted an officer, and keys were found on his person.

21-year-old James Laughlin was arrested on the following requested charges:

  • Aggravated Burglary
  • Felony Interference
  • Battery of a Law Enforcement Officer
  • 4 counts Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer
  • Trespassing
  • Theft
