Salina Man Arrested After Alleged Threats and Hospital Disturbance

A 38-year-old Salina man was arrested Sunday night following a disturbance in the 200 block of North Penn.

Derek Lee Smith was arrested for criminal threat and disorderly conduct after allegedly threatening a 33-year-old male resident during a phone call and subsequent confrontation. According to police reports, Smith threatened to put a gun to the victim's head after a dispute over Smith's communication with a female resident.

When Smith arrived at the residence, the male victim struck him after reportedly seeing Smith reach for his waistband. No weapon was found on Smith. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, where he allegedly urinated on the floor, leading to the additional disorderly conduct charge.

Smith was later booked into the Saline County Jail.
