SALINA, KS — This week, Salina Fire Department crews completed a hands-on training exercise focused on patient extrication from an aircraft. The training included instruction on where to make safe cuts on an airplane, how to package and move injured patients, and the operation of Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) trucks.
The training was made possible through a donated aircraft from 1 Vision, and support from the Salina Airport Authority ARFF team, which assisted throughout the exercise.
The exercise is part of the department’s ongoing commitment to preparedness for emergency scenarios involving aircraft and complex rescue situations.
