The Salina Family YMCA has earned Praesidium Accreditation®, the highest recognition awarded by Praesidium, a national leader in abuse prevention and risk management.
The accreditation publicly confirms that the Salina Family YMCA meets the highest industry standards for abuse prevention practices. The designation is awarded only after a rigorous, multi-stage review process.
To qualify, the YMCA implemented and demonstrated compliance with Praesidium’s Accreditation Standards across eight core operational areas, including policies, screening and selection, training, monitoring and supervision, consumer participation, internal feedback systems, response protocols, and administrative practices. Praesidium then independently verified the organization’s implementation of those standards.
The accreditation is valid for three years. During that period, the Salina Family YMCA is required to maintain strict safety practices and uphold organizational values centered on protecting children, teens, and vulnerable individuals.
“ We are pleased to send the message that we will not compromise the safety of those in our care—for any reason,” said Marti Higdon, senior director of youth development. “As an entire organization, we are dedicated and committed to proactively keeping those in our care safe from sexual abuse.”
Praesidium Accreditation® is considered a benchmark for abuse prevention and risk management. The recognition distinguishes the Salina Family YMCA as a leader in safety practices within youth-serving organizations, both locally and nationally.
