Salina Central High School Varsity Girls Tennis gave a stellar performance as they cruised through the quadrangular competition on Thursday. The team showcased their formidable skills, securing victories in all key categories.
In the singles division, Janae Montoya dominated at #1 Singles, while in the doubles category, the pairings of Addison & Mallory Renfro at #1 Doubles, and Claire Renfro & Kinsley Foth at #2 Doubles, exhibited outstanding teamwork and skill to secure victories.
Alexis Rogers also displayed her talent, finishing as the runner-up at #2 Singles with a commendable 2-1 record. This collective effort propelled Salina Central to an overall first-place finish as a team.
The competition was no walk in the park, as Marysville, a team that had finished second at last year's 3-2-1A State tournament and returned with their entire roster, put up a strong challenge and secured second place. Hutchinson and South took the third and fourth positions, respectively.
Notably, Brooke Banniger & Macy OβHara, representing Central at #3 Doubles, stepped in admirably for South at the #2 Doubles spot, earning a respectable 1-2 record.
The next challenge on the horizon for the Mustang tennis team is the Newton Invitational, scheduled for next Tuesday.
