During a recent session of the County Commission, commissioners reviewed and approved a resolution requesting the reappointment of board members to the Boards of Trustees for Rural Fire Districts 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7. The Boards of Trustees, in accordance with K.S.A 19-101, et seq., K.S.A 19-3601, et seq., and Saline County Code Sec. 10-2, are comprised of dedicated volunteers from each district, responsible for overseeing the operations of their respective fire districts on behalf of the County Commission.
Each district's Board of Trustees can consist of 5 to 9 members, each serving a two-year term. The individuals appointed through this resolution will fulfill their roles from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2026, at which point they may be considered for reappointment. The motion for approval garnered unanimous support with a 5-0 vote.
