If you thought traffic was moving slowly Tuesday afternoon, you were right — a whole house was leading the way.
A full-size home was transported from the area of Crawford and 9th to its new spot near Ellsworth and Santa Fe, a trip of roughly 0.8 miles that turned into one of Salina’s most unusual parade moments.
This isn’t the first time a house has taken a cruise down Salina streets, but it’s always a spectacle: many people snapping photos and drivers pausing mid-route, and plenty of “wait… is that a house?” reactions.
A professional moving crew handled the relocation, while the Salina Police Department monitored the move and helped manage traffic along the route.
The home is now settled into its new neighborhood — and Salina gets another entry in its unofficial list of “things you don’t expect to see on your commute.”
