On Saturday, March 9th at approximately 5:15 pm, a Salina Police Officer initiated a traffic stop with a 2003 black Chevy Trailblazer. The officer attempted the stop in the 3800 block of South Ninth Street due to the driver exceeding the speed limit. The driver, later identified as Robert Webb of Salina, pulled into Long McArthur. He engaged in erratic behavior, such as waving his arms and yelling at the police officer, prompting concern. Webb then sped out of the parking lot and made his way onto southbound I-135, reaching speeds of 75-100 mph.

A State Trooper joined, taking over the pursuit. At milepost 64, a McPherson County Officer successfully spiked the vehicle's tires. Despite this, Webb persisted, evading further spike attempts until milepost 61, where he veered into a tree in the west ditch. Webb, 53, was arrested and found in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and an open container of alcohol. He faces multiple charges including felony flee and elude, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, no proof of insurance, speeding, illegal tag, transporting an open container, and no drug tax stamp.
