Possible DUI in Alleyway Leads to Arrest

An alleged DUI leads to the arrest of a Salina man.

Captain Forrester says that the alleged incident occurred on Wednesdaym May 24 at 8:10 pm, in the 100 block of N Ohio. A 37-year-old Salina man, identified as Chris Chaney, was allegedly driving a 2007 Ford Focus in an alleyway. While backing up northbound and moving forward northbound in the alley, the vehicle allegedly struck a ground transformer, a guy wire, a telephone pole, hit an Evergy box that knocked the vehicle's passenger mirror off, and drove through a yard.

An officer was then on the scene and performed a traffic stop in the 900 block of Johnstown. The Ford had significant passenger-side damage and was towed from the scene. Mr Chaney was believed to be under the influence, and was arrested on the following requested charges:

  • DUI
  • Duty upon striking
  • Illegal turn
  • No proof of insurance
  • Illegal vehicle registration
  • No drivers license
