Police Chase Ends with Drug Arrest After Suspect Found Under Trailer

On November 18, 2024, a Salina Police officer initiated a pursuit of a white vehicle in the 500 block of E. Elm Street after observing suspicious activity.

The vehicle failed to stop when exiting an alley and continued to flee.

During the pursuit, a passenger, later identified as Daniel Lee Burd, 24, of Salina, exited the moving vehicle. The officer, who was aware of Burd's active warrants and involvement in a previous pursuit on November 13, 2024, began a foot chase.

With assistance from a Sheriff's Office K-9 unit, Burd was located hiding under a trailer in the 200 block of N. Oakdale. He was taken into custody without incident.

Officers discovered over 15 grams of suspected methamphetamine in Burd's possession. He was subsequently arrested for:

  • Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Failure to have a Kansas Drug Tax Stamp
  • Felony obstruction
  • Felony flee and elude

The investigation is ongoing.
