SALINA, KAN. — On January 2, 2025, at approximately 11:55 PM, Saline County deputies responded to a 911 call reporting an open line with sounds of a disturbance at 2407 S Woodward Rd. Upon arrival, deputies encountered a female resident fleeing the home with visible injuries as gunshots were fired from the property.
Law enforcement officers, including the Salina Police Department, Kansas Highway Patrol, and Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), were called to assist. Armored vehicles and response teams were deployed as multiple shots were fired from inside the residence throughout the night. Some of these rounds struck the armored vehicles, but law enforcement personnel did not return fire during the standoff.
A search warrant for the residence and an arrest warrant for the property owner, 57-year-old Collin Wade Campbell, were issued. After deploying irritants and breaching the residence, authorities took Campbell into custody without further incident.
Campbell faces multiple felony charges, including:
- Attempted Murder
- Kidnapping of the female resident
- Six counts of Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement Officers
- Misdemeanor Domestic Battery
Additional charges are anticipated as the investigation progresses. Campbell was transported to a hospital for evaluation and will be booked into the Saline County Jail upon medical clearance.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is assisting in processing the scene. Further details will be released as they become available.
