SALINA, KANSAS — Abilene’s early-morning appearance on Fox & Friends drew a strong crowd Friday despite steady rainfall, with both Abilene residents and Salina commuters showing up before dawn to participate in the live broadcast.
The segment, which aired live at 6:00 a.m. CST and reaches more than 1.3 million viewers, highlighted local businesses, community pride, and a performance by 54 Abilene High School band students who volunteered on a non-school day. Former Abilene resident Steve Doocy appeared as part of the broadcast.
Downtown businesses opened early, and local manufacturers showcased products made in Abilene. The city’s Greyhounds mascot and several dogs were also part of the crowd—drawing onlookers despite umbrellas and wet conditions.
The live coverage followed a route beginning at Little Ike Park, traveling along NW 3rd Street to Buckeye Avenue, and back toward Amanda’s Bakery & Bistro. Attendees were encouraged to show community spirit with signs and Abilene-themed apparel, and organizers said turnout exceeded expectations.
As a bedroom community for many Salina workers, the visibility was seen as positive for the broader region. The broadcast offered promotional benefits for local tourism, businesses, and employer branding across both Dickinson and Saline counties.
