A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in the 400 block of South Broadway Boulevard on May 18th at 10:12 pm. The 52-year-old male pedestrian was crossing eastbound on South Street against the light. He was struck by a northbound Honda Odyssey minivan driven by a 48-year-old Salina woman. A witness claimed the crosswalk signal displayed a "do not walk" symbol.
The pedestrian, who was wearing dark gray shorts and a gray t-shirt, sustained serious injuries and was initially taken to Salina Regional Health Center before being transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. The vehicle was believed to be traveling at 35-40 mph at the time of the accident. The incident is under investigation, and no charges have been filed.
