Party-Branded Mailers Endorse Local Candidates; Origin Under Review

SALINA, KANSAS — Salina residents have reported receiving political mailers this week that appear to endorse candidates for the upcoming City Commission and USD 305 Board of Education elections, including current Mayor Greg Lenkiewicz.

The mailers, which began arriving between October 27 and October 30, are labeled as “Paid for by the Kansas Republican Party, Roger Lomshak, Treasurer.” They feature the "PAID FOR BY THE KANSAS REPUBLICAN PARTY" statement and promote several local candidates, including Bill Longbine, Greg Lenkiewicz, and Randall Hardy for City Commission, as well as Dana Johnson, Amy Freelove, and Bonnie Schamberger for the school board.

The materials urge voters to “support small business, stand with our police, and cut wasteful spending.”

Mayor Greg Lenkiewicz said he was unaware of the mailer’s origin and had no role in its creation.

Salina311 has reached out to the Kansas Republican Party to confirm whether the mailers were officially produced or authorized by the state organization, or by a separate political action committee operating under the party’s name.

As of Thursday afternoon, the Kansas GOP has not issued a public statement regarding the mailers.

The appearance of the materials has prompted confusion among local voters about whether the content reflects official party endorsements or independent campaign activity.

Salina311 will continue to monitor the situation and update this story as more information becomes available.
