Parked Car Hit After Driver Leaves Bar

A Salina man allegedly hit a parked car in central Salina after leaving a bar.

Captain Forrester says that the accident occurred on April 11 at 1:40 am. Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Willis, where 22-year-old Christopher Hays had allegedly called in to report that he had hit a parked vehicle while driving home from a bar, although he was unsure where the parked car was at. Hays' Toyota passenger car allegedly had damage consistent with what he was reporting.

At 9:15 am, officers were dispatched to the area of Ash and Phillips, where a victim reported that her 2014 Kia Optima had been struck during the night. Evidence at the scene allegedly matched Hay's Toyota.

Hays' requested charges include:

  • Duty upon striking unattended vehicle
  • No motor vehicle liability insurance
  • Inattentive driving
  • DUI
