On Friday, November 17, first responders were sent to the intersection of Belmont and Magnolia, to the scene of a two-vehicle collision. The driver, 40-year-old Salina man, was behind the wheel of a tan 2000 Nissan Murano heading north on Belmont. While waiting at a red light, a fire truck, lights and sirens activated, was approaching from behind. In an attempt to clear the intersection, the Nissan driver pulled ahead, crossing paths with a westbound silver 2011 Toyota Tacoma driven by a 76-year-old Salina woman. The collision resulted in the Toyota rolling over. The Nissan driver was cited for running a red light. Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to SRHC.
