Maurice Dean "Mo" Kerr
Maurice Dean "Mo" Kerr, aged 76, passed away on September 2, 2024, in Salina, Kansas. Born on November 6, 1947, in Abilene, Kansas, he led a life marked by dedication to his community and family.
Mo graduated from Abilene High School before pursuing higher education at Washburn University and Wichita State University. His career spanned several decades, beginning with his time at a pizza place in Topeka during college. He later utilized his skills as an Electrical Engineer in various companies in Salina and eventually founded his own business, Computer Helper, assisting many with their computer needs.
A proud veteran, Mo served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1973, contributing diligently to his country's efforts during a pivotal time.
He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Betty Kerr, sharing over 55 years of marriage filled with trips, dinners, and cherished moments until her passing. Mo was also a dedicated member of the Sunrise Presbyterian Church, where he volunteered on various committees.
His community involvement extended to volunteering at the local Senior Center, teaching computer skills and offering his expertise to help others embrace technology.
Mo enjoyed gardening, solving puzzles, and exploring the latest in computer technology, hobbies that reflected his curious and engaging spirit.
He is survived by daughters Marci McCullough and Mindy Johnson, son-in-law John Johnson, grandsons Allen and Cameron Johnson, along with numerous unofficially adopted daughters, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. His family and friends, too numerous to name, will deeply miss his presence. Mo was preceded in death by his wife Betty Kerr, father Melvin Kerr, father-in-law Floyd James Logan, mother-in-law Margaret Logan, niece Emily Kerr, and son-in-law Terry McCullough.
A service to honor Mo's life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 10:30 am at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, located at 825 E. Beloit Ave. in Salina, KS 67401. Contributions in memory of Maurice can be made to the Sunrise Presbyterian Church or the Salina Alzheimer's Support Group.
Ryan Mortuary in Salina is assisting the family with arrangements. Mo Kerr's legacy of community service, familial devotion, and professional achievement will be remembered by all who knew him.
