Duane Lee Ferguson

Duane Lee Ferguson, 91, passed away peacefully at his home on October 25, 2025, in Salina, KS.

Born on October 1, 1934, in Grand Island, NE. Duane was the son of Harry Ferguson and Clarabelle (Burst) Ferguson. He later moved to Salina where he attended Salina High School and laid the foundation of the of a life marked by dedication to family, faith and hard work.

Throughout his working years, Duane held many varied jobs. His true passion lay in sales – he had a natural gift for connecting with people and never met a stranger.

Duane married Laveda Johnannes the love of his life, on May 1, 1954. They shared 71 years together. He is survived by his wife and children Connie (Roy) Rivers, Mike, Greg and Jim (Farrah), 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Darrell and his daughter, Cathy. He instilled strong values in his family that continues to guide them today.

In earlier years, Duane found joy in fishing and boating with his family. As time went on, he cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren and took pleasure in simple pastimes like working in the yard, working on puzzles and completing word searches. He loved being outdoors – traveling, camping and enjoying nature.

A man of deep faith, Duane was a member of St Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church in Salina. He loved his Lord and Savior.

Duane Lee Ferguson will be remembered for his zest for life, his laughter, his unwavering work ethic and the love he shared with all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 137 N. 8th St., Salina. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. at 137 N. 8th St.. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 31st at 10 a.m. at St Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E Cloud St. Salina. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 2078 E Iron Ave., Salina. A Luncheon will be held at the church after the burial.

Deborah Searcy

Deborah Searcy, 73, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025. Born on July 18, 1952, in Junction City, Kansas, she was the beloved daughter of Charles and Mary (Barrett) Brown.
 
Deborah spent much of her career as a Unit Secretary at Salina Regional Health Center, where she was known for her dedication and steady presence. In retirement, she found joy in spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren grow, and collecting snowmenβ€”small things that brought her quiet happiness.
 
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Thomas Searcy, with whom she just celebrated 54 years of marriage. She also leaves behind two children: Jake Searcy of Salina, Kansas, and Blair (Jason) Cox of Wichita, Kansas.
 
Deborah was a proud grandmother to Wesley, Addison, Ryann, Kennadi, and Aislinn. She is survived by several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
 
Deborah is also survived by her three brothers, who shared in her life’s journey: Michael (Kathleen) Brown of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Steve Brown of Salina, Kansas; and Mark Brown of Columbia, Missouri.

In accordance with Deborah’s wishes, no formal service will be held.
