
Michael Wayne Huiett
Michael Wayne Huiett, 59, of Salina, passed away on July 23, 2025.
Mike was born on October 17, 1965, to Frank and Colene (Smith) Huiett.
He was a dedicated FedEx Freight driver for many years.
Mike loved riding his Harley with friends and going to rallies. He was a hard worker and always willing to help others. Mike was a private man who didn’t ask much of others, but all the family and friends that knew him were blessed to have been included in his circle of life. He was loved and will be missed greatly.
“Mr. Mike,” as he was affectionately known, is survived by his son, Christopher of Salina; sisters, Marlene Baker of Salina, Sheryl Huiett of Salina, and Mary Suwarno (Dedi) of Naperville, IL; uncles, Paul Smith (Marilyn) of Minneapolis, Kenneth Smith of Delphos, John Huiett (Brenda) and Paul Huiett (Annette), both of Salina; his "brother in arms," Carl Kidd; grandchildren, Christian, Kaden, and Alex; nephews, Shawn Baker of Minneapolis, Lee Baker of Salina, and Brandon Sears of Salina; niece, Valerie Stuart (Jason) of Salina; great-nieces, Jesslyn Rodriguez of Hastings, NE, and Nevaeh Sears of Salina; great-nephew, Nicholas Stuart of Salina; and many cousins and friends.
Cremation was chosen, and services will be held at a later date.

Gary William Newbrey
Gary William Newbrey, 67, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and quiet strength.
Born on September 24, 1957, in Beloit, Kansas, Gary was the beloved son of Wanda Faye (Michel) and William Irwin Newbrey. He carried their values throughout his life—honesty, kindness, and a deep devotion to family.
Gary found joy in the simple, meaningful things: the open road, the view through a camera lens, the texture of wood under his hands. He filled his days with projects, books, and moments of reflection—never idle, always engaged with the world around him. Above all, Gary was a steadfast family man who would do anything for those he loved.
He is survived by his daughters, Mindy Wingler (Josh) and Paige Newbrey, both of Salina, and his cherished grandson, Nate Wingler. Gary also leaves behind his sisters, Sheryl Ernst (Steve) of Wichita, Kansas and Sharon McKenzie of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gary’s life was a quiet testament to dedication, curiosity, and compassion. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has been chosen.
Family will greet friends from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Monday, August 11 at 500 S. Ohio St.
