Susan Marie Padgett
Susan Marie Padgett, 75, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, January 7th, 2025.
Susan was born in Salina, Kansas on December 1, 1949, to Eva B. (Ticehurst) and Robert "Bob" Eugene Padgett.
Survivors include a daughter, Eva Costigan (Kenneth), of Mentor, Kansas; son, Daniel Couch (Elizabeth), of Salina, Kansas; and sister, Connie Williams.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Samantha Archer (Travis), Brett Couch, Shyann Andrews; and two great grandchildren.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert Padgett.
The family requests donations to Salina Animal Shelter.
Cremation has been chosen and services will be announced at a later date.
Ralph Edwin Polly
Ralph Edwin Polly, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, at the age of 75.
Ralph was born on April 13, 1949, at Ellsworth Hospital in Ellsworth, Kansas, to Myra and Willie "Bill" Polly. He was lovingly welcomed into the world by his parents and his older sister, Marilyn. Ralph grew up in Brookville, Kansas, where he shared a special bond with his grandparents, Bertha and Clare Sneath. He attended school in Brookville before graduating from Salina High School.
Ralph proudly served his country in the United States Army, earning the rank of Sergeant Polly. He completed two tours in Vietnam before being honorably discharged. His deep pride and patriotic spirit were evident throughout his life. After his military service, Ralph worked for nearly 30 years at Beech Aircraft, later known as Raytheon, until its closure and his retirement.
Ralph had a zest for life and a wide range of interests. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and grilling, gardening, and playing pool, darts, and horseshoes with friends. Music was a cornerstone of his lifeβhis "second heartbeat." Ralph also participated in his high school band and later formed a band of his own. He shared his love of music with his children, often pointing out beautiful guitar solos that moved him deeply. His biggest love was the Beatles, nobody could beat them out, not even Elvis.
Family was central to Ralphβs life. He cherished honoring his family legacy and took pride in reminding his children of their roots. Known for his warm personality and ability to connect with anyone he met, Ralph left an unforgettable impression on all who crossed his path.
Ralph is lovingly remembered by his sister Marilyn Myers; his children: Nathaniel Polly, Sylvia Polly and significant other Justin Covington, William Polly and wife Natalie, Andrea Polly and her fiance John Rudd, and Rena Cox and husband Brad; step-son, Shannon Hutton; as well as his beloved grandchildren: Ethan, Hunter, and Brooklin Hughes; Victor and Nina Vazquez; Hiram, Nayalie, and Ava Polly; and Alannah Polly. He is also survived by his wife, Mitzi Mullen-Polly. Ralph was previously married to Elizabeth Polly and Anita Ahlquist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law Dale Myers; nephews, Wes and Greg Myers; and second wife Anita Ahlquist.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, January 17, at 137 N. 8th St. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 18, at 137 N. 8th St. A graveside service will follow at Brookville Cemetery. Family will welcome all those who loved Ralph at Rooster's Tavern for a lunch. Any food contributions would be appreciated. There will be a memorial Spangles night out Tuesday, January 21, from 5-8 p.m. to benefit the family.
A heartfelt thank you from the family goes out to Gentiva Hospice for the loving dedicated care of Ralph- Amanda, Yvonne, Drea, Trista, and Brittany, words can't thank you enough. Also the family is forever grateful for his second family at Comcare Ohio, especially Joy, Gina, Jared, Helen, Whittney, Page, Traci, Kelly, Mayra, Tonya, and his 4ever Valentine Hailey.
Memorials can be left in care of the family or Sunflower Day Center.
