Brandon L. Doherty
Brandon L. Doherty, 37, of Salina, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024. He was born on June 3, 1987, to James and Vicki (Small) Doherty. Brandon was an all around athlete, he grew up playing football and baseball. He also enjoyed playing racquetball, and loved fishing and hunting. He was a hard working craftsman who critiqued every little detail. His greatest passion was being a father to his children.
Survivors include his father, James Doherty; mother, Vicki Ryan; stepfather, Kent Whitehair, all of Salina; son, Finley; stepchildren, Alec, Quinley, and Wylder; brothers, Kirklan Pauli (Ali), of Osage City, Ryan Doherty (Nicole), of Clifton, and Dillion Whitehair (Haley), of Hope; grandmother, Janee Doherty; and many aunts and uncles.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim Doherty, Guy and Sandra Small.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Ryan Mortuary.
Gilbert Dean Altman
Gilbert Dean Altman, 69, of Salina, passed away at home, Wednesday, August 21, 2024. He was born in Salina, KS, to Max and Grace (Werries) Altman on January 20, 1955.
Gilbert and his two sisters grew up in Tescott, KS.
Gilbert Altman and Nancy O’Neill were united in marriage on October 5, 1974.
After Gilbert graduated from Tescott high school in 1973, he worked for his Uncle Leonard and Dad Max, at Altman Construction and then in the 1980’s, after Leonard’s death, Max and Gilbert purchased Altman Construction, where Gilbert worked for 50 years, retiring in 2022.
Gilbert loved the fourth of July, going with the grandkids to purchase fireworks and setting them off. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap, and skeet shooting. He spent many years shooting and fostered many wonderful friendships. Gilbert was an avid Jayhawk and Royal’s fan.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Sam Mynhier.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, of the home, two daughters Jennifer (Chad) Bruhl of Niles, and Sara (Adam) Daleiden of Salina, his sister, Joleen (Dave) Whitfill of Topeka, niece Lori Adam, nephew Brett Whitfill, and niece Jessica Whitfill. Gilbert is also survived by his four grandchildren: Madison Schafer, Mya Schafer, Dylan Schafer, and Grant Herman.
Visitation is scheduled for 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth Street, with family in attendance from 5-7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 29, at Ryan Mortuary, with a private inurnment at a later date.
