Larry Edmund Homeier
Larry Edmund Homeier, known fondly as "Skip,” passed away on August 8, 2024, in Salina, Kansas. Born on November 1, 1943, in Ellsworth, Kansas, Skip was known for his dry sense of humor and deep love for his family.
Skip was an avid fisherman and hunter, passions he eagerly shared with his family. As a long-time member and Treasurer of the Salina Kennel Club, Skip was the go-to expert for training hunting dogs, a role he and his wife, Pam, embraced as obedience trainers.
For 30 years, Skip worked at National Bank of America as a Computer Programmer and Vice President. After his retirement from the bank, he served as the Custodian for Trinity United Methodist Church for several years. His meticulous nature made him the family’s trusted fixer, whether building a shelf or repairing a sink.
Skip graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1961 and earned a degree in History from Kansas Wesleyan University in 1966, where he also met Pam. Their bond grew during their college years, leading to a life filled with love and shared passions.
Skip also loved movies and reading, finding joy in stories on screen and in books. His life was defined by his steady presence, reliability, and deep care for those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Homeier of Salina; his sister, LaVonne Shawley (Claude) of Linwood; and his three daughters, Stacy Came (Chad), Jill Phelps (Scott), and Nicki Seay (Dewayne), all of Salina. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 16th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St, Salina, KS 67401. Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 17th at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 E Neal Ave, Salina, KS 67401.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church and the Salina Kennel Club.
LeAnn Marie Berry
LeAnn Marie Berry, 84, of Salina, Kan., passed away Friday, August 9, 2024. She was born on October 11, 1939, in Clay County, Kan., to Wilbur and Hazel (Welch) Griffiths.
LeAnn grew up in Clay Center, Kan., and graduated from Clay Center High School. She worked for many years at Tony’s Pizza and as a door greeter at Walmart in Salina. She liked to visit with family and loved her dogs and Chico the family cat and watching game shows. She also enjoyed the traveling she was able to do while her husband served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include her sons, David (Susie), Doug (Kim), and Jeff (Jane) Berry; sisters, Violet Kolle and Barbara Savery; grandchildren, Steven (Melanie), Thomas, Jack, and Joshua Berry, Veronica Brown (William), and Luke Guzman; great-grandchildren, Ava, Valen, and Harlan; nephew, Paul Kolle; and niece, Lisa Donald.
She is preceded in death by her parents; the father of her sons, Thomas Berry; and her brothers-in-law, Ronald Kolle and Roger Savery.
A memorial service for LeAnn will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St, Salina.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, care of the mortuary.
Jesse D. Wray
Jesse D. Wray, 25, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024. He was born in Salina, on October 29, 1998 to Heidi Lee and Larry Wray.
Survivors include his mother, Heidi Lee; father, Larry Wray; stepfather, Michael Peterson; brothers, Guage Peterson, Cash Peterson, and Iziah Wray; sisters, MaKinze Wray and Gypse Wray; grandparents, Larry and Rhoda Wray, Gale Peterson, and Debrah Thomas; aunts, Jenifer Wray, Michelle Peterson, Lori Kimble, Cat Bogart, and Nancy Lee; uncles, Glenn Jacobs, Robert Terpe, Wade Barnett, Jerry Hassler, and Jerry Bogart; cousins, Tanner Wheeler, Kelsey Jacobs, Kadee Lynn Michael, Daniel Burd, Dane Welch, and Kale Simmons; nieces, Mila Peterson, Phobe Peterson, and Rylie Peterson; nephew, Ryder Peterson; godfather, Abel Perez.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald and Julie Lee and uncle, Dave Lee Oran Miller.
Memorial service was Saturday, August 10, 2024, at St. John’s Baptist Church, Salina.
