Nex-Tech Wireless has entered into an agreement with US Cellular to acquire additional spectrum in the 700 MHz band, the Kansas-based wireless carrier announced. The spectrum acquisition is designed to increase network capacity across the company's service area in central Kansas.
The transaction will not affect existing customer accounts, phone numbers, or services for either Nex-Tech Wireless or US Cellular customers, and no customer action is required, according to the company.
Jon Lightle, President and CEO of Nex-Tech Wireless, said the additional spectrum will function "like adding more lanes to the highway" to handle increased network traffic and provide improved service quality.
The spectrum acquisition is expected to deliver several network improvements, including enhanced connectivity in rural areas and indoor locations, faster data speeds for streaming and video applications, and expanded capacity to accommodate growing device usage and emerging technologies.
Nex-Tech Wireless operates as a subsidiary of Nex-Tech Inc./Rural Telephone, Golden Belt Telephone and Tri-County Telephone. The company provides wireless services across more than 40 Kansas counties, positioning itself as a regional carrier focused on rural and underserved communities.
