As the opening of the new Saline County Jail approaches, staff members are actively undergoing training to ensure the seamless operation of the facility situated at 800 E Pacific Ave. In an innovative community engagement initiative, local residents were recently invited to spend a night inside the jail, providing them with a firsthand experience of the facility.
Participants were immersed in the process of being "booked in," complete with a personalized booking photo, before spending the night in a jail cell alongside other "inmates." The evening included a dinner of spaghetti, rolls, carrot cake, and salad. Additionally, citizens were given an exclusive tour of the new jail, gaining insights into its cutting-edge features. The night's program concluded with a thrilling demonstration by the S.W.A.T. Team, showcasing the facility's commitment to safety and security.
As the Saline County Jail prepares to officially open its doors, this unique community initiative offered residents a rare glimpse into the operations and features of the new facility, fostering transparency and understanding between the law enforcement and the community.
