Kansas Wesleyan Men's Volleyball picked up a straight set win over the Central Christian Tigers 25-19, 25-16, 25-22 on Tuesday night at Alexander Arena.
Wesleyan jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the opening set, as Central never got closer than four points the rest of the set, at 21-17. The Coyotes would use a kill by Brayden Johnson to end the set.
The second set was close throughout until an 11-4 run for the Coyotes ended the set. It was 14-12 Coyotes when a kill from Jaron Lindsay sparked the run that had the Coyotes leading 24-15 before a Kahlib Lawrence kill closed it out.
Central Christian had an 8-7 lead in the third set, but the Coyotes held the lead despite Central tying it up several times, the last at 16 before two points by the Coyotes gave KWU enough cushion. It was 22-20 KWU when the Coyotes got two points to take a 24-20 lead.
Two Central Christian points got it to a two-point difference before Ryan Wagner closed it out with a kill for the match win.
The Coyotes played several reserve players in the match.
Lindsay led the way with eight hills, while Lawrence had seven, Tyler Vanderplas had five as well as Johnson. Angel Diaz had 23 assists. The Coyotes delivered 13 service aces in the match. Barry Neff, Jr. had 11 digs.
Wesleyan is back in action this weekend for the GPAC openers, at Morningside on Friday, and at Ottawa on Saturday.
