In the early hours of Thursday, November 30, at 12:05 am, an alert officer patrolling the 100 block of W Pacific noticed an individual cycling on the wrong side of the road. Upon attempting to initiate contact, the cyclist, wearing a face mask, came to a halt. The individual provided a name that raised suspicions, ultimately revealed to be false. The person was later identified as 40-year-old Timothy Hurt. As the situation unfolded, Hurt reportedly grew increasingly uneasy, attempting to flee on the bicycle. However, the vigilant officer managed to intercept and remove him from the bike. Hurt then took off on foot, scaling a chain-link fence, and reaching around his waistband in the process. In response, the officer deployed a taser twice, successfully apprehending Hurt. The item Hurt was allegedly reaching for was a red zip-up case containing a methamphetamine pipe with residue. Hurt now faces charges including possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with law enforcement, and improper riding of a bike on a laned roadway.
