Man Arrested After Violent Disturbance in Salina
On July 2 at 4:00 pm, Salina police were dispatched to the 100 block of North College Avenue for reports of a disturbance involving a female being forced into a vehicle and a male with head injuries.
The incident began in the basement of a residence where a 32-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were present. Mark Martin, 35, of Salina, allegedly broke into the basement, pushed the man into furniture, and repeatedly punched him in the face. Martin then forced the woman into a black Lincoln Navigator, with his 2-year-old child also in the car, and drove away.
Police found the woman unharmed at Christ Cathedral after church members called in shortly after the incident. Martin had taken her to another relative who was present at the church. The church members were able to separate the female from Martin and told him to leave. Martin complied and left the church. The vehicle, and Martin, were located shortly after in the 800 block of West South Street, and Martin was taken into custody.
The male victim suffered a swollen and bleeding right eye, a laceration to the back of his head, and a broken cheekbone. Martin faces multiple charges, including aggravated battery, aggravated burglary, kidnapping, domestic battery, driving while suspended, and endangering a child.
