Police responded to a disturbance call at 2140 E. Crawford on Tuesday, February 13th, around 11 am. Upon arrival, officers encountered a 53-year-old male resident reporting a disturbance caused by his girlfriend experiencing a mental health episode, resulting in loud behavior within their apartment complex.
The commotion drew the ire of another resident, identified as 54-year-old Edward Toothman. Allegedly, Toothman responded by knocking on the door of the distressed individual. However, upon the victim's response, Toothman purportedly brandished a two-foot-long pipe and attempted to force his way into the apartment, swinging the pipe.
Fortunately, the victim managed to repel Toothman's advance, pushing him out of the apartment and securing the door. Subsequently, officers located Toothman in his residence and apprehended him without resistance. Authorities successfully retrieved the weapon allegedly used in the incident.
As a result of the altercation, Toothman was arrested on requested charges of Aggravated Burglary and Aggravated Assault.
