The Salina Public Library is partnering with the Salina Kansas Downtown Lions Club to provide eclipse glasses to watch the annual solar eclipse on Saturday, October 14.
The sun will be about 70% obscured from mid-morning to early afternoon. Glasses will be available at the Information Desk and Youth Services Desk starting Monday, September 25.
According to NASA, special eyewear should be worn to watch the solar eclipse. Regular sunglasses will not properly protect your eyes, so eclipse glasses should be worn. The eclipse is predicted to begin in Kansas at 10:20 a.m. and end at 1:16 p.m. with maximum visibility at 11:45 a.m.
The Salina Public Library wants to thank the Salina Kansas Downtown Lions Club for donating 1000 eclipse glasses so that patrons can safely watch the solar eclipse.
