Kansas Wesleyan Softball snapped an eight-game losing streak with a seventh-inning rally in the second game to salvage a split with the Bethel Threshers at Wedel Field.
Bethel got a 1-0 win in the first game, and the Coyotes scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning of the second to claim a 5-4 win.
In the opener, the Threshers got the game's lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning on a single and error that allowed the run to score.
The Coyotes were held without a hit until the sixth inning when Eliza Flores broke up the no-hit bid with a single and Sydnee Fordham followed with another hit that moved Flores to third. The Coyotes could not push a run across in the inning.
Jocelyn Alcala led off the seventh with a hit, and pinch hitter Keira Hammen walked to put two on for the Coyotes with one out, but again the Coyotes could not push a run across as Bethel held on for the win.
In the second game, the Coyote bats came alive at just the right moment. KWU scored three runs in the top of the seventh and held on in the bottom of the inning for the win.
Wesleyan got on the board in the top of the first inning as Eliza Flores led off with a double and Fordham followed with another two-bagger to bring in the run.
Bethel tied it in the bottom of the inning and took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third.
The Coyotes tied it back up in the sixth. Trenity Miller led off with a double and went to third on Hailey Summers' sacrifice. After the Coyotes loaded the bases, Ollievia Lowe brought in the game-tying run with a sacrifice fly.
Bethel got two runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-2 lead.
Flores led off the Coyote seventh with a single and went to second on a wild pitch. Fordham then singled and Miller brought in the first run with a hit. After a sacrifice bunt by Summers, Alcala walked to load the bases and two batters later Lowe drove in two runs with a double to give the Coyotes a 5-4 lead.
Bethel would leave the game-tying run at first base in the bottom of the inning as the Coyotes held on.
Four different players had two hits each for the Coyotes. Lowe drove in three runs. Miranda Fogal got the win in relief for the Coyotes, going four innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out seven and not walking a batter.
