KWU Men’s Golf uses strong final round to finish eighth at Oakwood Intercollegiate

After struggling in the first two rounds on Monday, the Kansas Wesleyan Men's Golf team posted a final round score of 286 to vault to an eighth place finish at the Oakwood Intercollegiate at Oakwood Country Club.
 
The Coyotes posted a first round score of 319 and a second round score of 317 on Monday and sat near the bottom of the leaderboard, but Tuesday's round of 286 vaulted the Coyotes into eighth place.
 
KWU finished four shots better than Grand View as the Coyotes posted a final score of 922 for the tournament.
 
Jackson Malone led the way for the Coyotes with a 22nd place finish with a score of 227. Ethan Vikander tied for 23rd with a score of 228, Tyler Tarvin tied for 30th with a score of 231, Hank Reeg tied for 46th with a 236, and Nolan De Los Santos tied for 62nd with a score of 241.
 
KWU also had a second team entered led by Trevor Watson tying for 26th with a score of 230. Brooks Guinn tied for 53rd with a 239, Kaleb Thingelstad was 76th with a 250, Derek He tied for 81st with a 255 and Adam Vigars was 83rd with a 256.
 
Hutchinson Community College was the tournament champion with a final score of 876, beating McLennan College by four shots.
 
Iowa Western's Ethan Smith was the individual champion with a 212.
 
Next up for the Coyotes is The Battle hosted by Grand View University at Laughlin Ranch Golf Club in Laughlin, Arizona. KWU then hosts the Midwest Spring National at Colbert Hills on April 8 and 9.
