KWU Men’s Golf in Second Place after First Day of Central Plains Invitational

Kansas Wesleyan Men's Golf sits in second place after the first two rounds of the Central Plains Invitational at the Salina Country Club.

The Coyotes trail Southwestern Christian by one shot after holding a six-shot lead over Doane University after the morning's first round. KWU finished with a score of 574, posting a 283 followed by a 291 in the afternoon second round.

Jackson Malone paced the Coyotes through the first two rounds, opening with a 68 and following with a 73, sitting at 1-over par with a score of 141. Trevor Watson is tied for third with a score of 142 (73-69), Ethan Vikander is tied for eighth with a 144 (70-74), Hank Reeg (73-75) and Tyler Tarvin (72-76) are tied for 20th rounding out the team scorers for the Coyotes.

Ryan Lee is tied for 38th with a 154 in the first two rounds playing as an individual.

Wesleyan also had a B team in the tournament that sits in ninth place after posting back-to-back 303's in the first two rounds. Caden Stevens and Joey Wisocki are tied for 25th with a 150, Brooks Guinn and Jack Lauer are tied for 34th with a 153, and Nolan De Los Santos is in 55th with a 164.  

Bethany's Mads Hasenschwandtner leads the tournament after posting an even-par score of 140 through the first two rounds.

KWU trails Southwestern Christian by a shot, but leads Doane by 11 shots. Bethany is fourth, Park (Mo.) is fifth, Sterling sixth, Briar Cliff seventh, Central Christian eighth, KWU B team is ninth, Evangel is 10th and Sterling B team is 11th.
