KWU Men’s Golf Finishes Second at Central Plains Invitational, B Team Ties for 8th

Kansas Wesleyan Men's Golf posted a second place finish in the Central Plains Invitational on Tuesday at the Salina Country Club. The KWU B team tied for eighth place in the final standings out of the 11 participating teams.

Wesleyan posted a team score of 861 for the three rounds, finishing four shots behind Southwestern Christian in the standings. KWU had single round scores of 283, 291 and 287.

KWU was paced by Trevor Watson who tied for second place with an even-par score of 210, shooting 73-69-68. Jackson Malone tied for fourth with a one-over 211 (68-73-70), Ethan Vikander was sixth with a 212 (70-74-68), and Hank Reeg (73-75-81) and Tyler Tarvin (72-76-81) tied for 35th with a 229.

Ryan Lee finished 45th playing as an individual with a 233 (74-80-79).

KWU's B team finished tied for eighth place with Evangel, with a team score of 897, shooting 291 in the third round after back-to-back 303's in Monday's first two rounds.

Caden Stevens finished tied for 15th with a 219 (76-74-69), Joey Wisocki was 22nd with a 223 (73-77-73), Brooks Guinn tied for 27th with a 225 (77-76-72), Jack Lauer tied for 38th with a 230 (77-76-77) and Nolan De Los Santos was 55th with a 245 (81-83-81).

Southwestern Christian won the team title with a final score of 857, four shots ahead of the Coyotes. Doane was third with 870, Bethany was fourth with 873, Sterling was fifth with 876, Park was sixth with 885, Briar Cliff was seventh with 887, KWU B and Evangel tied for eighth with 897, Central Christian was 10th with 911, and Sterling's B team was 11th with 921.

Up next for the Coyotes is the KCAC Match Play Championships on Monday and Tuesday in Dodge City at Mariah Hills.
