Salina, Kan. β Two Salina vape shops were among dozens of businesses across Kansas targeted in a statewide marijuana enforcement operation led by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI).
On Wednesday, October 1, KBI agents, in partnership with local law enforcement, executed search warrants at Space Out Smoke Vapor & Tobacco (2629 Market Place, Suite C) and Vapor 100 (220 W. Crawford). The operation was part of a broader effort to seize marijuana vegetation, THC vape cartridges, and other items containing what authorities described as βillegal concentrations of THC.β
The KBI press release noted that in some cases during the statewide raids, weapons and cash were also confiscated. Case findings will be forwarded to prosecutors for charging decisions. Potential charges may include unlawful distribution of controlled substances and possession of controlled substances with intent to sell.
βThese illegal substances are in our homes, in our schools, and in the hands of our children. They are so widely-accessible that some Kansans are under the impression they are safe,β said KBI Director Tony Mattivi. βAnyone who sells illicit products poses a direct and unacceptable threat to the health and safety of our most vulnerable.β
Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach added that many of the businesses targeted were not only selling THC vape products but also pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes. βThe law is the law in Kansas, and it will be enforced,β Kobach said.
The KBI emphasized that the statewide operation is ongoing.
