5.80 million acres, is up 13% from a year ago. Yield is forecast at 128 bushels per acre, up 9 bushels from last year.
Sorghum for grain production in Kansas is forecast at 135 million bushels, down 20% from last year. Area for harvest, at 2.70 million acres, is down 17% from 2023. Yield is forecast at 50 bushels per acre, down 2 bushels from last year.
Kansas's soybean production is forecast at 170 million bushels, up 62% from last year. Area for harvest, at 4.48 million acres, is up 11% from 2023. Yield is forecast at 38 bushels per acre, up 12 bushels from last year.
Winter wheat production is forecast at 315 million bushels, up 56% from last year. Area for grain, at 7.15 million acres, is up 24% from last year. Yield is forecast at 44 bushels per acre, 9 bushels above last year.
Cotton production is forecast at 190,000 bales, up 28% from last year. Acreage for harvest, at 120,000 acres, is up 26,000 acres from 2023. Yield is forecasted at 760 pounds per acre, down 1 pound from last year.
Oat production is forecast to be 1.42 million bushels, down 28% from last year. Harvested area for grain of 33,000 acres is up 3,000 acres from a year earlier. Yield per acre, at 43 bushels, is down 23 bushels from a year ago.
Alfalfa hay production of 1.65 million tons is forecast, down 27% last year. Expected yield, at 2.70 tons per acre, is down 0.35 ton from last year. All other hay production of 3.03 million tons is forecast, up 9% from a year ago. Expected yield, at 1.75 tons per acre, is up 0.40 ton from last year.
