For the week ending July 28, 2024, there were 6.6 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 13% very short, 33% short, 52% adequate, and 2% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 12% very short, 34% short, 52% adequate, and 2% surplus.

Field Crops Report: Corn condition rated 5% very poor, 12% poor, 31% fair, 40% good, and 12% excellent. Corn silking was 84%, ahead of 78% last year and 76% for the five-year average. Dough was 48%, ahead of 35% last year and 32% average.

Soybean condition rated 2% very poor, 9% poor, 27% fair, 53% good, and 9% excellent. Soybeans blooming was 64%, behind 71% last year, but near 61% average. Setting pods was 27%, behind 34% last year, and near 28% average.

Sorghum condition rated 4% very poor, 9% poor, 38% fair, 42% good, and 7% excellent. Sorghum headed was 36%, ahead of 25% last year and 23% average. Coloring was 6%, near 7% last year and 2% average.

Cotton condition rated 0% very poor, 6% poor, 27% fair, 48% good, and 19% excellent. Cotton squaring was 96%, ahead of 89% last year and 84% average. Setting bolls was 58%, ahead of 48% last year, and well ahead of 33% average.

Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 6% very poor, 13% poor, 30% fair, 43% good, and 8% excellent.
