K9 Officer Ty Assists in Apprehension of Warrant Suspect

On 1/24/24, at about 8 PM, officers were sent to the 900 blk of E. Republic in reference to a disturbance. Prior to officers arrival, the suspect was identified as Corey Born, age 30, of Salina. Born had active warrants and was known to resist arrest and carry weapons. Upon arrival officers observed Born and advised him he was under arrest for the warrants. Born reportedly fled on foot and was pursued by officers. Born then stopped in the street and turned around and indicated he had something. He then allegedly reached into his waistband and produced a knife, which he pointed at officers. K-9 Ty was released and grabbed Born’s arm causing him to drop the knife. Born reportedly continued to resist and not comply. Officers took Born to the ground where he was taken into custody. Born only had superficial injuries due to his clothing and was examined medically. He was booked into the Saline County Jail on requested charges of 2 counts of Aggravated Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer and 1 count of Interference with a Law Enforcement Officer.
