The juvenile victim involved in the Friday evening shooting in south Salina has died, according to the Salina Police Department.
Police confirmed that at 9:19 p.m. on January 3, 2026, the victim was pronounced deceased at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, where the juvenile had been transported for treatment following the incident.
The shooting occurred Friday evening at a private single-family residence in the 100 block of Raleigh Street. Police clarified that the incident was not associated with the Southwind Apartments complex, correcting earlier information that had led to confusion about the location. The department issued an apology for the error and any concern it caused.
The investigation remains ongoing. Salina Police stated they are continuing to work with the Saline County Attorney’s Office as the case proceeds and as potential charges are reviewed.
